Korea Trip 2009

One of our members went to Korea for a business trip and brought back some pictures:

Region Novena

Greetings Dear Brothers and Sisters,

          In the TAU 2009 Spring Issue, there is a request to the SFO in the United States to

partake in a year long Novena.  They set up a nice bracket to utilize all 30 Regions in the

U.S. 

St. Joan of Arc has the 4^th week of June and the 4^th week of December to fulfill their

request.  I have attached the Novena Prayers so that you do not have to hunt for your TAU;

please make copies and involve your fraternity members to partake in this devotion.  Your

generous time and obedience to this request is greatly appreciated and … your reward in

Heaven will be great!  God bless you all and I look forward to seeing you at the Regional

meeting on June 13^th.

A Tribute to Father Albert

A wonderful tribute to Father Albert, O.P. - our Fraternity’s spiritual guide written by Father Victor Brown, O.P., former pastor of Holy Rosary:

…This morning, I offered Mass for the repose of Fr. Albert Moraczewski, perhaps the most distinguished member of the southern province of our Dominican Order here in the United States.  From his childhood, he manifested a gift for science and study.  He joined our Order, attracted to it by its emphasis on the intellectual life.  Shortly after his ordination, he earned the Ph.D. degree in science from the University of Chicago with a major in pharmacology since he was especially interested in drugs and medications, in their use and in their abuse.  That led him to an interest also in the whole field of bio-chemistry, bio-physics, and bio-ethics.  For years, the American bishops in their semi-annual meetings have asked him to address them on the latest developments on things like DNA, stem-cell research, cloning, and other aspects of our physical make-up which have moral connections. 

Fr. Albert was the chaplain of this monastery from 1992 to 1994.  He lived in the apartment in which I now live.  And in particular, he celebrated Mass each day at the altar in the chapel where I celebrate Mass each day.  As I stand in that very spot every morning, I am acutely aware of the men who have preceded me in this position, most of whom I have known personally and liked and admired.  Today, as I stood there, I thought: Albert stood here many times to offer the Holy Sacrifice.  Now, please God, he stands in the kingdom of Heaven offering eternal praise and adoration to the God to whom he devoted his long life here on earth.  He was 87.  Just in case he needs prayer, please remember him in yours.

Our Franciscan sister, Melodie Adams, died April 20, 2008 from a massive heart attack. Please left up our sister to the Lord and pray for the family.
